The Acu-Rite 00899 Wireless Rain Gauge collects rain in its upper casing which encloses the sensor/battery compartment component and seals the collection tipping bucket from wind and non-metered rain drops. The rain bucket collects a metered amount of rain and then tips to automatically empty, allowing for continuous rain measurement. A wireless main unit then communicates with the sensor from as far away as 100 feet. Different modes on the unit shows the current or most recent rain event total. The unit can also display the date and time along with a history mode that will display historical rainfall amounts for the last 7 rain events. A flood watch alarm activates when a flood and saturation condition is met. Also a rain alarm can be set that alerts you when it begins to rain.
