Using the same technology NASA employs to tell time, Atomix clocks wirelessly synchronize with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado. In addition to daily confirming the time, these clocks automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time and run up to two years on AA batteries.

The Atomix 13131 Dartmouth Desktop Alarm Clock has a black plastic case with what the manufacturer calls picture frame styling. A thin silver bezel surrounds the large, backlit LCD panel. In the LCD panel, the Dartmouth displays the time as hour, minutes, and the date as month, date, and day of week.
