For high output speaker systems, PRV Audio's 12MB1003FT midbass is an excellent option capable of amazing performance and durability for its price. PRV started by using a rigid cast aluminum frame with narrow spokes to minimize reflections back into the cone. In addition, the frame includes large openings behind the spider allowing plenty of airflow to cool the voice coil. The voice coil is wound on a 3'' Kapton former with copper-coated aluminum wire keeping weight to a minimum for incredibly quick transient response. To drive the voice coil, the 12MB1003FT uses a large ferrite magnet and a machined top and bottom plate, which minimizes stray magnetic fields keeping efficiency as high as possible. The additional large diameter vent in the back plate for the coil allows this driver to handle up to 500 watt RMS without issue.
