The Taylor heavy duty mechanical portion scale features a stainless steel construction with a 9"x9" stainless steel platform for extreme durability. It has a corrosion-resistant weighing mechanism for long-term accuracy and strength, an internal stop mechanism and a shatterproof lens. This model features a special mechanism called Dashpot that acts as a damper and makes the scale shock- and vibration-resistant. Dashpot is an adjustable air damper that reduces the platform oscillations when a weight is applied. The scale's temperature compensated feature provides accurate measurements in different temperature, like a walk-in refrigerator to a kitchen, so there is no need to worry about readjusting
